The Opportunity
A 19-bed cardiovascular ICU in the Blue Ridge Mountains is looking for its next Nurse Manager. This is a permanent, full-time leadership role with a team of approximately 65 staff members alongside a group of nationally recognized physicians. If you have a post-cardiothoracic background and you are ready to step into a position with real operational authority and clinical depth, the scope here is worth a serious look.
The schedule is full-time days with no weekend requirement. Admin call runs once every six weeks, one of the lighter on-call obligations you will find in an ICU management role. There is one opening, and the organization is moving with intention to fill it.
A sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are both available on a case-by-case basis. This is a Magnet-designated health system with the kind of institutional infrastructure that backs nursing leadership in practice, not just on paper. Competitive compensation based on experience. Benefits are comprehensive, and the professional development pathway here is genuine. Certification support and continuing education are part of the culture.
Candidates must hold a current RN license in North Carolina (eNLC may apply; confirm with NCBON). A BSN is required; an ADN with an MSN or a BA with an MSN is accepted in lieu. MSN is preferred. National certification in leadership or area of clinical specialty is required within one year of hire. BLS is required. You will need a minimum of five years of recent nursing experience and at least two years of relevant clinical hospital experience with demonstrated leadership at the charge or manager level. Post-cardiothoracic background is required to be considered.
If this aligns with where you are taking your career, reach out directly or book a confidential 5-minute call. We will walk you through the details and answer any questions about the role.

The Package
Why Asheville?
Asheville, North Carolina sits in a valley framed by the Blue Ridge Mountains, and it earns its standing as one of the most genuinely livable small cities in the South. The outdoor access here is immediate. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah National Forest, and the French Broad River put hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and whitewater paddling within easy reach on any given day. The climate runs mild by mountain standards, with four real seasons and summers that stay comfortable at elevation. It is the kind of place people visit once and start working out how to move there.
The city itself has built a cultural identity that punches well above its size. Downtown carries a strong independent arts presence, a nationally recognized restaurant scene, and one of the most developed craft brewery cultures in the country. Families are drawn here for the school quality in Buncombe County, a cost of living that remains manageable relative to other desirable mid-size metros, and a general pace of life that allows for something beyond the workday. For healthcare professionals weighing a relocation, western North Carolina consistently delivers on the combination of meaningful clinical work and genuine quality of life. Asheville is that rare market where career trajectory and where you actually want to live point in the same direction.
